One year ago today.....

One year ago today, Ivy had her second TPLO. I am truly amazed by her progress. She runs, jumps, and swims like a young Lab. She will turn 8 in December. She has a trace of scarring if you look closely at her surgical sites and she doesn't really like you to mess with that area too much. I could not be more pleased with the results of both her TPLO's. She did have her surgeries in 2 different cities with two different surgeons, and I must conclude that whoever is training these guys is doing an excellent job. I still get very anxious when she tries any type of Lab acrobatics, especially on the trail or on the beach.....maybe in time I will get over that!

  1. Congrats! That is a happy milestone! Moose is just over a year from when he was diagnosed and I would not have panicked so much if I had known he would do so well! He slipped and freaked me out today and doubt i will ever be not nervous but all in all it is so awesome to see him run and play. In some ways I am more nervous about the other knee than the one that was already fixed because I am sort of waiting for it to go and wonder if he had them both done already if i would relax about it but guess you have answered that for me! Anyway, congrats on this milestone, keep it up!

  2. We are right behind Dana + Moose, by a few weeks. Congrats on the 1 year! I honestly do not think that we will ever be normal Doggy Mom's without the worry. Glad Ivy is doing so well!!!!

  3. What an amazing experience I had reading your blog! My Labrador Retriever, Kuka, is having her first TPLO tomorrow morning. I'm from Portugal and very nervous about this... Our doctor is great and he's the best in my country even known in Madrid! I trust him but I'm very anxious about recovery and the possibility of having the second TPLO... Me and my husband are doing our best to re-arrange the house and get some free stairs space to our precious Kuka! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Ivy, made me feel better and less anxious... Tomorrow is the day! I'd love to continue talking with you because this is really important to me. I love my dog as a child, for real! And I loved Ivy, she's very preety! Kuka sends kisses to Ivy too (she's staring at me like «Mom, stop seeing thins about TPLO on the Internet!» :D
    Kind regards,
    Mariana

  5. Thanks so much! I added Ivy and you on Facebook so you can meet Kuka and our other dogs! :D If you don't mind I'll chat with you to share some experiences about recovery and maybe some doubts that only dog owners/parents understand (not even doctors!).
Crossing fingers for tomorrow and now trying to get some sleep...!
I'll send some good news tomorrow!
    Mariana & Kuka :D
